    Referee Programs

Please watch www.azref.com for upcoming classes throughout the State Soccer Association.  Contact Jay Hanson at mailtojw@cox.net with questions and make him aware of your interest in being a referee or Asst Referee for the 2009-2010 season.

    Competitive Games:
If you are an experienced Grade 8 or higher level referee and would like to work U8 to U18 Desert Elite games, please contact our Competitive Program Referee Assignor, Jay Hanson at mailtojw@cox.net.

    Recreational Games:
Desert Foothills has one of the largest recreational soccer programs in the state.  We are always looking for qualified, motivated referees.  If you have a Grade 9 or higher level certification and want to be involved in a well-organized and fun league, contact our Recreational Referee Assignor, Jay Hanson, at mailtojw@cox.net.

    Referee Certification

The Arizona State Referee Association conducts referee certification programs throughout the state of Arizona.  You must be a certified referee in order to officiate for Desert Foothills Soccer Club.  We would like to invite all interested players (age 12 and older), parents, and coaches to complete either the Grade 9 or Grade 8 referee certification.  Not only can you make good money working as a referee, but you will gain a much better appreciation of the game, and help out your club!

    Grade 9 Referee Certification:
The Grade 9 Recreational Referee is certified to work as an Assistant Referee (AR, formerly known as a linesman) on all U14 and younger games PLUS is certified to work as a Center Referee for all youth recreational games.  Currently there is one class scheduled for Saturday 8/29 (9:30 – 5:00) and Sunday 8/30 (1:00 – 4:00) at the Horizon Community Center 15444 N 100th St. Scottsdale, AZ 85260.

On-line registration will be available at www.azref.com.  Contact Jay Hanson at mailtojw@cox.net with questions.  Watch www.azref.com for additional upcoming classes throughout the state.

    Grade 8 Referee Certification:
The Grade 8 Referee is certified to work as either an Assistant Referee or a Center Referee on all youth soccer games (both recreational or competitive).  We are in great need of soccer-knowledgeable, physically-fit adults interested in working the older youth soccer games.  This is an excellent job for a college student who is available during the day on Saturdays and sometimes Sundays.

For those referees already holding a Grade 9 certification, the State Referee Association will sponsor one Grade 9 to Grade 8 Bridge Class scheduled in the early fall at a time and location still to be determined.  Contact Jay Hanson at mailtojw@cox.net with questions.

For new referees, the State Referee Association will sponsor a 2-1/2 day Grade 8 Class on the following dates at facilities near DFAC.

SC Del Sol Office at 12228 N Cave Creek Rd, Suite #1110, Phoenix, AZ 85022 on Friday 7/31 6:00 – 9:00 PM, Saturday 8/1 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM & Sunday 8/2 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM.  You may sign up for this class online at www.azref.com.  Please contact Jane Fallon atJane.Fallon@nvsoccer.org for any questions.

Horizon Park Community Center 15444 N 100th St., Scottsdale, AZ 85260 on Friday 8/7 5:30 – 8:00 PM, Saturday 8/8 9:30 AM – 6:00 PM & Sunday 8/9 9:30 AM – 6:00 PM.  You may sign up for this class online at www.azref.com.  Please contact Jay Hanson at mailtojw@cox.net for any questions.

    Grade 8 & 9 Re-certification:
All existing referees must re-certify annually.  Phoenix-area classes for the 2009-20010 season are planned for early fall at the ASU downtown campus, 502 E. Monroe, Phoenix.   The first sessions are planned for August 15, 2009.  Additional sessions are expected to be scheduled in September and December at the same location.  Watch on-line at www.azref.com for the latest news and registration information.  ALL EXISTING DFAC REFEREES MUST NOTIFY JAY HANSON WHEN THEY HAVE SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED THEIR RE-CERTIFICATION IF THEY WANT ASSIGNMENTS FOR THE 2009-20010 SEASON!

Upcoming class will be posted shortly for the 2009-2010 season.  Also, watch www.azref.com for upcoming classes throughout the State.  Contact Jay Hanson at mailtomailtojw@cox.net with questions.
