    Referee Programs

    Competitive Games:
If you are an experienced Grade 8 or higher level referee and would like to work U8 to U18 Desert Elite games, please contact our Competitive Program Referee Assignor, Jane Fallon at Jane.Fallon@cox.net (preferred) or 623-587-1480.

    Recreational Games:
Desert Foothills has one of the largest recreational soccer programs in the state.  We are always looking for qualified, motivated referees.  If you have a Grade 9 or higher level certification and want to be involved in a well-organized and fun league, contact our Recreational Referee Assignor, Jane Fallon, at Jane.Fallon@cox.net (preferred) or 623-587-1480.

    Referee Certification

The Arizona State Referee Association conducts referee certification programs throughout the state of Arizona.  You must be a certified referee in order to officiate for Desert Foothills Soccer Club.  We would like to invite all interested players (age 12 and older), parents, and coaches to complete either the Grade 9 or Grade 8 referee certification.  Not only can you make good money working as a referee, but you will gain a much better appreciation of the game, and help out your club!

    Grade 9 Referee Certification:
The Grade 9 Recreational Referee is certified to work as an Assistant Referee (AR, formerly known as a linesman) on all U14 and younger games PLUS is certified to work as a Center Referee for all youth recreational games.

Two Grade 9 certification classes sponsored by the State Referee Association are scheduled for Saturday, August 9, 2008 (8:00am - 5:00pm) at the Anthem Community Center, 41130 N. Freedom Way, Anthem, AZ  85086 and for Sunday, August 17, 2008 (9:00am - 6:00pm) at a location to be determined.  On-line registration will be available at www.azref.com.  Contact Jane Fallon at Jane.Fallon@cox.net  or 623-587-1480 with questions.  Watch www.azref.com for upcoming classes throughout the state.

    Grade 8 Referee Certification:
The Grade 8 Referee is certified to work as either an Assistant Referee or a Center Referee on all youth soccer games (both recreational or competitive).  We are in great need of soccer-knowledgeable, physically-fit adults interested in working the older youth soccer games.   This is an excellent job for a college student who is available during the day on Saturdays and sometimes Sundays.

For those referees already holding a Grade 9 certification, the State Referee Association will sponsor one Grade 9 to Grade 8 Bridge Class scheduled for Saturday/Sunday, August 2-3, 2008 at the Anthem Community Center, 41130 N. Freedom Way, Anthem, AZ  85086 (class will be from 9:00am to 3:00pm on Saturday and 1:00pm - 4:00pm on Sunday).  On-line registration is available at www.azref.com.   Contact Jane Fallon at Jane.Fallon@cox.net  or 623-587-1480 with questions.

For new referees, the State Referee Association will sponsor a 2-1/2 day Grade 8 Class on Fri/Sat/Sun, August 29-31, 2008 at a location to be determined (class will be from 6:00pm - 9:00pm on Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm on Saturday and Noon to 6:00pm on Sunday).

Also, watch www.azref.com for upcoming classes throughout the State.  Contact Jane Fallon at Jane.Fallon@cox.net  or 623-587-1480 with questions.

    Grade 8 & 9 Re-certification:
All existing referees must re-certify annually. Phoenix-area classes for the 2008-2009 season are planned for early fall at the ASU downtown campus, 502 E. Monroe, Phoenix. The first sessions are planned for August 16, 2008. Additional sessions are expected to be scheduled for September 20, 2008, same location, as well as December 13, 2008.  Watch on-line at www.azref.com for the latest news and registration information. ALL EXISTING DFAC REFEREES MUST NOTIFY JANE FALLON WHEN THEY HAVE SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED THEIR RE-CERTIFICATION IF THEY WANT ASSIGNMENTS FOR THE 2008-2009 SEASON!

Recreational and Competitive Game Referee Assignments

All referees who wish to receive assignments, must input the times they are available to work games each week.  (New referees who wish to work Desert Elite games must pass an assessment by our club mentor, Rich Pineda.)  You may input your availability for the entire season or for just the upcoming weeks.  You may log in at http://www.assignref.com/login.php

All referees who indicate an interest in working for Desert Foothills WILL receive emailed instructions in September 2008 and written instructions will be covered at the Referee Orientation Meeting tentatively scheduled for September 14, 2008.  If you still need help or are new to Desert Foothills, contact Jane Fallon at Jane.Fallon@cox.net or 623-587-1480.  If you input your availability, you significantly increase your chances to receive assignments!
